Julie Polson, MD Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine A graduate of Wake Forest University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Polson is both an experienced physician and an accomplished lecturer. She did her residency and fellowship training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and then received a faculty appointment there as Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. She has significant clinical research experience through involvement in a number of hepatitis C trials and as a sub-investigator in the multi-center Acute Liver Failure Study Group. Dr. Polson received the prestigious Junior Faculty Development Award from the American College of Gastroenterology in 2006, and attended the ACG’s annual meeting in 2007 to present her research, for which she was also honored with a Governor’s award. She has published numerous papers in the field of hepatology, specifically in the areas of acute liver failure and drug induced liver injury. Dr. Polson was one of the few faculty members in her division to actively practice both hepatology and general gastroenterology, and is well-trained in upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. She is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology/hepatology. Dr. Polson enjoys music, taking walks and hikes, as well as dabbling in painting. Most of all she loves spending time with her daughter, husband and other family and friends.
