Dr. Kevin Rufner was raised in Denver. He completed a B.S. in Biochemistry and Nutrition from the University of California, San Diego. He received his medical degree from Tufts University in Boston, MA where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He also completed a master’s degree in public health with election to the Delta Omega Alpha honor society. He returned home for his internal medicine residency and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Colorado. While in fellowship, he conducted clinical research on inflammatory and infectious disorders of the intestine, and maintains interest in inflammatory bowel disease and the gut immune system. He treats all aspects of the digestive system and liver. He is a member of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the Colorado Medical Society.

Dr. Rufner’s wife, Lorraine, is a family practice physician in the Denver area. They have two children.
